Yesterday I went to the fish store and got a Clown Goby (Goby is alive and well) and a young Black Ocellaris. The fish looked fine in the store, I did a 2-2 1/2 hour drip acclamation, lights go out before and after fish is added. After he was released into the tank he would just swim at the top gulping air and he turned really pale. Within 5 hours of being in his new home he died. I took him back to the pet store and they tested my water no problems there. They replaced him with a new Black one. I once again did the drip acclamation. The new one started acting the same way and and died within 12 hours. Everything in my tank is alive and well, the Clownfish that have now has been there over a year and is happy and healthy. he did not go after or try to pick on the new fish I tried to add. Any ideas why 2 Clownfish would die like that? Maybe they just don't transport well and got stressed and died? I don't think I did anything wrong. Any input would help, Thanks for reading.

Hmm that is pretty strange and tragic! It seems like all of your params are in check besides your salinity which is high. Also I dont think so many animals in such a small tank is a good idea. Not bashing you thats just a lot of bio load.

I do agree that It's too many fish for a 6 gallon; but that won't kill a fish that quickly.

What was the temp of the acclimation container during the two hours drip? What was the salinity of the stores water?
Also, why aren't you quarantining your new fish? Turning pale and gasping sounds like something is severely stressing them and/or brooklynella. Was it mucus looking film or just whole body turned white? Gills flaring at all while gasping?

I would say perhaps the other fish do not like having their already limited resources invaded.

Clowns only like other mated pair clowns unless you have a big tank. A 6 gallon is like putting two enemies in a one bedroom condo and asking them to get along.

Your specific gravity is way too high to introduce something in. I am sure your existing livestock is used to a marinade but even after 2 hours, I doubt a clown would like a salt bath like that.

Most likely it is that you have overloaded a micro tank. I bet they died after hte existing clown beat them to a pulp.
