anybody know where i can get black pvc parts locally?

looking for 1" threaded elbow
and 1" threaded plug
and 3/4" slip elbow

Thanks

I don't know about black, but I was able to find grey PVC parts at certain Lowes. Not all of them carry grey parts, but a select few do. That's what I used on my 30G at home.

The 3/4" slip elbow should be pretty common at the LFS.

Just spray-paint white fittings. Grey pvc = sch 80, white = sch 40. You'd spend 2x-5x what you'd spend just for getting grey (which is thicker, but unnecessary for aquariums). Save your money and make it easy on yourself.

Sorry to hijack the thread. Isn't the spray paint toxic? Is there any that is aquarium safe?

If you spray outside of the tank on the outer surface of pipe fittings with a water based spray paint, how would it be toxic?

If the plumbing on the outside, yeah I don't see a problem. I also saw painted plumbing parts that is used inside the aquarium. Do you by any chance know what kind of paint is reef safe?

I use krylon fusion. It bonds to plastic in a way that makes it part of the plastic...it doesnt scratch or flake. I just let it dry for a day then wash it real good, it's just like any other plastic at that point. For $5 it will cover a huge amount of pipe or overflow stuff.

I was a home depot picking up some black parts today. They are all 3/4 inch or smaller. Most is 1/2 inch. Just elbows and such, no tubes though.

I have used ABS piping in the past as well... it is black... but not usually small.

I believe the smallest ABS available is 1 1/4", plus it's much more expensive.

cooltank...how long have you had the spray-painted pvc in your tank? have you seen any ill effect?

PS. I went to osh and HD and didnt see the Krylon...it's odd because i bought it at OSH about a year ago when i painted my tank

Honestly, any PVC i have painted is external, but my overflow box is sprayed black. I didnt like the clear look. It's been in there for at least two months...no i'll effects at all (I have some SPS, softs, LPS and clams) Usually you see leathers reacting to PH or wierd things in your tank...mine didnt flinch.
They have it at HD, lowes, ace, and walmart.
