Black Pyramid Butterflyfish

Is the black pyramid bf fish, Hemitaurichthys zoster, similar in reef safety to the yellow one, or completely different?

Despite what some people ahve claimed, I have never found any evidence to see that they are any different. I have spoken to some "authorities" in the hobby, and they agree that they are no less reef safe than the yellow H. polylepis.

thanks, so reasonably safe for a butterfly, which of course is never 100% safe

if well fed , reef safe... no butterfly is reef safe when hungry... but this one is ok for reef...
