black sand

I have seen this at the lfs
anyone tried it.
I bet its harder to see how dirty your sand is
harder to see if you got cyano
any disadventages?

I tried it in a nano once. It was actually easier to see that it was dirty.. atleast with detrius coming from the rock.

I was thinking it would be easier to see dirt, too. Kinda like a black car.

I think it would be neat to do a tank with. Especially something smaller. Personally I'd still want my display to be "regular" sand, but thats just me.

I noticed this at the Critter yesterday in one of the tanks - it looks pretty sharp. It definitely gives the tank a different feel as opposed to the whiter sand.

That tan is gone now. One year after set-up it sprung a leak. I got rid of everything except the rocks. Went back to white aragonite now. Black was nice but like Titansfan said it will show dirt more and if you try to add more flow you will have sand storm.
