I've gotten a sponge the other day and it is the first time I see anything like that.
At the shop they told me it was imported as a Halyclone and the fact is that it is similar in its shape to the purple especies of halyclones that's to say it consist on 5 tubes that are soft what is atonishing is the color very deep black. The only similar sponge I've seen at the WEB is an ircina from Bahamas but mine is supposed to be from the indopacific. (the importer is British and I'm in Spain so it is not easy to get the info because of the intermediates)
Whith the actinic light it does not reflects anything buy a very weak blue.
The question is if anybody know the especies and how much light they will need. I know the blue halyclona needs moderate light to thrieve because they are fotosyntetic and probably this one black is also fotosyntetic (but I do not Know).
For the time being I keep it with 150 HQI 16000 ºK and 60 W actinic convetional fluorescents at a distance of 40 cm (30 inches) and I'll see if it grows. durinfg the first week the openings have developed a very thin layer of tissue so it is a good signal. I feed it with cyclopezee some living fito and mixture a made very very fine with mussels, calamar fish,
