black spot disease?

hi everyone,
I have 2 clowns and a coral beauty, and i noticed yesterday that there a few tiny black spots (very tiny, pinpoint size) on my smallest clown and even fewer on my larger. I can't tell if there are any on my angel only because he's darker in color to begin with. I just googled it and came up with black spot disease? the description on website sounds similar to what my fish have. Unfortunately, I don't have a picture, cuz i'm at work. Even more unfortunately, I'm leaving straight from work to go to the airport to go out of the state until Sunday. My fish will be fed in the meantime, but I'm worried that this is a parasitic infection that needs treatment asap. I can certainly treat with a fresh water dip and any other medication needed when i return.

Have any of you seen this before? Is it fatal? Any treatment suggestions? If I wasn't going away, I'd be doing something about it right now....sigh... i don't want to lose any fish.

Your clownfish may just have coral sting on them. Do you have a picture? Of course if you don't have corals than black ich would be a good thing to do a search for in the disease and treatment forum.

kaihonu82- I'll be sending you a PM in a few minutes. I suspect it to be ich since the angels are showing signs as well. Clownfish will suffer from Hyper-Melaninization once in awhile from coral stings but doesn't sound like it's what your clownfish have.

The only coral I have is alveopora...I've had everything for a while and haven't seen this before...

Black ich is easy to treat and not deadly like marine ich.

As others have stated .. many people confuse black ich with normal clown melanistic responses to coral stings.

The three freshwater dip method works great. Dip every 3 days until no more signs of the disease. Odd though that your clowns have it, they aren't frequently a carrier. Did you recently add something not QT'd to your tank. This disease has to be introduced it cannot just appear.

No, i haven't added anything to my tank recently. I'm hoping that all it is is sting marks from brushing up against the coral.
