Black Sun Coral

I used to spritz a little juice from the food to come around them and for the most part around the same time of day. Now all I do is put the hand in the tank and everyone starts to open. Yuppers they can be trained.

I couldnt ever get mine to come out during the day and it would barely come out at night. How do you get it to come out?
i take all mine out and put in a separate container to feed every other day. if the polyps are not already out i dose the container water in some microvert to get them to come out. then i feed each (yes, each!) polyp with a combo of mysis, chunks of f1 and cyclop-eeze. it takes quite awhile to get each polyp as i have 4 suns (1 small, 3 large) and all are piggies.
then i leave all in the container for at least 30 minutes until i cannot see anymore food sticking to them. then i put back into their tanks.

Just reading about all the great info about the suns. I have two a black and a yellow, I had a large yellow that I gave away to someone who had more time for it. I find oyster eggs get the polyps out quickly. Then I feed each polyp mysis. feed them cyclop-eeze in the tank every night after the halide goes out and the vho's are on. Great pics!

I have on occassion used the cyclop-eeze to stir their taste buds a bit. It grabs their attention for when the main course is coming. I would love to see your pics of the blacks.

I have a new black sun coral that was given to me at a LFS on Saturday. It was starving in the tank and is in bad shape.

Anyone have any tips on nursing it back to health?

I sure hope you got the answer you were looking for. They love to eat and as you most likely know by now they do not hesitate to show their appreciation for a good meal.

I have a combo, orange/yellow and black on the same rock. I feed them chopped shrimp, cyclopeez, fish eggs. They eat anything.

Dang, I was kinda hoping to see an orange polyp in the middle of a black colony :)

hmm... maybe I'll do exactly that with my orange/yellows and my reds... ;)

Well they're just frags, and they're not quite open, but they're red.

Blacks on the left, oranges on the right (both rejuvenation projects from the LFS)
