I was just wondering if anyone has seen black zoas? I know that Atlantis sells some blackish ones that they call black plagues. Here's their pic.

But those look more purple to me. I am wondering about black, like coal black. Are they common and maybe I just haven't seen them before? Like these?

I saw a picture of some black zoanthid last year, I have never seen any in person. I have seen purple polyps as you have eluded to, they were being called black, but they weren't.

those look pretty sweet. i used to have neon green/jet black zoas, but now they're neon green/dark brown. i like the ones posted, though i've never seen them

Interesting, Jonathon were your blacks in higher or lower light to make them change to brown? These appear to have green skirts so I am curious if they are the same as yours. Do you have a pic?

And Mucho, have you heard anything about care for blacks? Like you, I haven't seen much about them...

I had the ones in the first pick back in 06, they turn a dirty gray color on me. It was a definite reaction to my lighting. I know absolutely nothing about the care of black zoas. I have never seen them in person nor have I ever owned them. I would guess because of their color, I'd keep them mid tank level or lower. Does anyone else have any knowledge of them? We're talking black, not purple or gray polyps.
