Blasto welliso retracted

I have been trying a blasto welliso in my tank, since I'm still fairly new to lps I don't just go all out, I get frags and see how they do.
For the past month my blasto has been retracted, I tried giving it more shade but not luck yet. I also have had a few alk and calcium swings that started when I put a clam in my tank. My cal was 450 thin in a week it would swing to 400. My alk was 10 and would drop to 9 or 8 in a day. I know I need to get a doesing pump and I also have switch from using caribisea argramight to a 2 part and adding mag. My lights are 60 3w cree leds 24 royal blue, 24 cool white, 6 red ,6 blue over a 72x18x22 125g. Its in a low flow area tucked back by its cave. Any thoughts on if its to much light or 2 to 3 dKH swing making it unhappy?

could be that the combined swings + moving around the tank is causing it to stay closed. The blasto i have is pretty hardy. It went from a neglected tank that had all params out of control to one where everything was in check. The only thing is the change from good tank to neglected and back to a good tank was very gradual. I think you should leave it on the bottom of the tank for now with low to med flow. Try to fix your swings, but dont try to compensate too much as going from alk of 8 to 10 is just as bad as 10 to 8. Now I only have 1 blast frag and im no expert but the one i recieve is recovering nicely. good luck

I have noticed mine will retract when the Ca is off. After doing a WC, I have to wait 2 days before dosing, if I dont my ca gets too high. I feel like your swing in levels are whats casuing this. Mine is also in low to mid lighting and low flow FWIW.

yeah I don't raise the alk any more than 1 point a day, but I have been thinking the fast drop in alk is ****ing it off lol. The drop is realy said because I only have 5 lps in my tank and a clam and the lps aren't very big pieces. Clams are a major drain on cal and alk. I definatly need to get a doseing pump lol.
