Blastomussa?

Requirements? Are they difficult? I'm trying to make a responsible decision on whether or not I should acquire any of these beautiful corals.

I've only had my tanks for like 5 months and I have some blastos that are doing very well. Easy to me. I have mine on the sand bed of my 6 gallon nanos and I hand feed once or twice a week and they plump up real nice.

I have a nice blasto on my sandbed about 4-5mths now and its doing great. I have 12 T5's (39W) and my tank is 30" deep. So its working for me. It still has kept its color. Brown, red and pinkwith some little blue in between. It has about 10-12 heads (oval shaped) and is about 6"X4" and about 3" tall. If your lighting is good.......................go for it

I have found the difficult for Blastos to be about the same as Acans. Easy to Moderate.

Though you should always strive for clean water, blastos seem to be one of the more tolerant corals when it comes to dirty water.

I have a blasto thats got lots of small heads and cant quite figure out what im suppose to feed it. There are tiny tentacles that come out sometims?

Feed it anything meaty. Mysis work great. I have access to a frozen mix that contains upwards of 10 different things including scallop chunks and oyster eggs to name a few.

That may have been your experience but there are many variables that may give you that impression. Not enough acclimation to LEDs, too much light, not enough light, water quality, etc. can all play a factor.

The issue is not if it is true or not, the issue is after how much time you have been mantaining blastomussa under led lightinh without color changes. Of course i have maintainted blastos for three months without problems but after six months the animal is completely different the reds are disapearing and the greens are pale....


But of course you are right there are many other parameters to take into account.

The same happens with lobos, acans, cynarina, trachis, echinos, oxipora, scolymia, etc.

When I say leds I men the normal ones blue and white not the very sophisticated arrangements under test that we can also see everywhere

I will always accept other views, I am an open person.

i find my blastos are very forgiving in terms of how much light i give them but they dont tolerate a lot of flow. as long as i keep them in low flow they seem to be happy
