i just got a blastomussa acclimated to my tank, but was wondering on acclimating to my lights. its a 55g with 6 54watt T-5, gives me 5.9 watts/gal. they dont have individual reflectors, just 1 behind them all. i kept the lights off for 4 hours and i just turned on my actinics. i got the blasto completely shaded. is this ok? everything i read says that they like moderate light and water movement, except what i read here, where everyone says low light and movement. are my lights too strong for it? the only place near the sandbed that gets partial shade where i can put it is about 6" away from my physogyra. seems like it would be too close for me

If its shaded you will be fine. I have 2 different blastos in my tank on the sand under 250w MH and they are not shaded. Both are doing really well, but i had to acclimate them to the higher light.

i have my under 250W and now under T5. they will do fine almost any place in ur tank. just dont put them directly under the MH. T5 i keep my upper-middle level of the tank.

I have a few different blastos under 250MH, near the sandbed. They seem to do pretty well there.

im working on it. dont have much time lately, we're adopting another doberman, going to look at her tonight, but ill try and get a good pic later on. its a really small frag, but the colors look like it will be pretty sweet when if gets bigger. i got it with a neon green nephthea, which is unbelieveable. when i had the lights off for them to adjust, the nephthea was glowing. i kid you not, you could see it plain as day. ill post pics of both, they're the best purchases ive made yet, by far

not the greatest pics, but they'll work.
here they are:

Wow that is green!!! Nice.

The blastos do look a little upset, leave them for awhile, they should come around. It wouldn't hurt to try feeding them some mysis or brine. I haven't seen that morph before, nice find.

i moved them around more than i should have yesterday, they have reason to hate me. i'll try feeding them, but thats where my peppermints like to hang out, and they were picking on it yesterday. i dont want to freak it out more. isn't that nephthea stellar?!! that blew my mind when i took it out of the box. :)
