blastos fading away

are they recieving a lot of light, particularly, strong metal halide, and are they recieving too much water flow? Blasto's typically like little to moderate current and don't like to recieve too much light. If you have metal halide, try to make sure the blasto is low in the tank, not getting too much light.

Some blastos just seem to fade away. I had a colony that looked great for months than it slowly faded away. Perfect conditions, spot fed three times a week, ideal flow and lighting and wam. Don't throw the skeleton away as some people have had sucess with them re-growing in the future.

welcome to the club, not your fault though, its a blasto thing, they fade away when they wanted to !!!

150watt metalhalide i don't think is too much light.Maybe the 20000k spectrum is not right for them.I don't know.

If the color is fading it's most likely bleaching due to the light being too intense. Blastos like to grow vertically on the rock ledges so I'd recommend using epoxy to mount the faded blastos onto the face of the rockwork somewhere in your reef. I bet they come back after not facing directly at your bulbs if you mount them that way...and the target feedings will help them along.
