What is the typical bleach to saltwater ratio to eradicate marine velvet? Holding system is currently without livestock. Tanks do contain one piece of live rock and 1" sand bed per tank. 1000 gallons total volume. Draining is not option at this point. Posted this topic in Reef Chemistry section as well. Hoping for responses from folks that have done before. Not really looking to nuke system. Just sterilize enough to eradicate diseases that may be present.

Yes. That would be the first choice as well. It is for a commercial setting however where new fish are coming in weekly.

I've always used one gallon bleach per hundred gallons of water but my objective is to kill everything then restock in a timely manner.

If commercial then run free copper, it precipitates fast and is least likely to be absorbed.

I ended up using 3 tsp of bleach per gallon based on an article by Bob Fenner for disease eradication. Total gallons of bleach was 4 gallons for 1000gallons of water. How much sodium thiosulfate or Prime should I need to neutralize?
