bleached anemones and magnesium

Ron Popeil

Love them clownfish.
this is only an anecdotal experience, but i have a friends tank who had a dozen or so rose bubble tip anemones. these anemones bleached when his chiller exhausted itself on the hottest week of the year. water temperature was in the 90s for days before he noticed.

the anemones were bleached for almost two months. bryopsis started to suddenly appear in the tank and i told him to start adding kent magnesium in large quantities. so he did.

within about two weeks, the amount of color in the anemones tissue rapidly increased. in three weeks time the anemones have almost all regained their lost color.

any thoughts on this? just a coincidence?
