Bleached BTA

Okay, so I picked up a bleached BTA at a LFS after realizing it still had potential to be a great addition to one of my tanks. I acclimated it, got it settled into the tank and have since been watching for a gaping mouth or other signs of distress. So far the nem hasn't moved nor shown any distress. It is still reactive to touch and seems to has firmly planted itself. My question is two-fold.. First, how soon should I attempt to feed this guy? Clearly it needs supplemental feeding a until it can recover some but I didn't know how soon to attempt something. Secondly, can anyone guess at the eventual color of this nem? The tips are pink if you can't see but I simply don't have any idea on the actual color. Thanks!

I would wait at least a week or two before any attempt to feed it. Let it acclimate to your tank first, and don't be surprised if it goes walkabout. The actual digestion process of bta's is pretty harsh on their system. I believe you have a pink tip bta. I wasn't even aware of these until a few weeks ago.

I agree that it is either a pink or green BTA
I bought a couple of them, bleached also.
I would honestly start feeding straight away.
He is sot bleached he may have trouble accepting a full cube of food to start off. I would defrost some mysis, use a syringe, turn powerheads off and gently squirt some of it around his tentacles. Never near his mouth.
Hopefully he still has a sticky feeding response and will feed himself.
Hes he may move but he actually looks pretty happy right now.

This is the pic of one of our bleached bta's and about 6 months later, had got all color back and split into 3.
So can be done. but needs feeding every single day.
While bleached he can not gain any nutrition from the lights as they would normally do.

I'll try to feed some Mysis when I get home and see what it does. I'm gonna have to figure out a way to cover my pumps though, I came home last night to find him halfway sucked into one, I guess he tried to walk around or something. Luckily, he wasn't injured. Thanks for the tips, y'all.

I have brought back many bleached anemones. That one is really bleached. Is he sticky? If he is I would start feeding him some mysis.. Problem is if you wait and he starts to degenerate and loose his stickiness ( the ability to produce nematocyst) he will be nearly impossible to feed. Start with very small feedings.. I like too feed every other day.

If he aint sticky he probably is to far gone.

That's not good especially now if he is injured. now his energy will go to repair.
I have seen BTA's blow up like a balloon and release and drift in the current.. If they do that they really are not happy with their conditions or location..

What is the color of the body of pink tip bubble tip anemone? On BlueZooAquatics website, it looks like it has rose and green color on its body. Also my rose/ rainbow bubble tip anemone has pink tip, too. Maybe they are the same bubble tip anemone with different name? Or all kind of bubble tip anemones can have pink tip.
