Bleached out birdsnest

Went to a LFS and there were rows and rows of birdsnest frags that were 100% bleached white. :/

White = bad yes? It looked like the colony was in there and had been fragged and it was turning white too.

Yes it was. I've been in to check them out a few times but I felt uncomfortable when I saw that. :/

Yep. White coral = dead coral.

Yeah idk how they plan on keeping any sps under that very low actinic...

I was hoping they would put up more light, because nothing looked like it was getting enough.
But I know they are working on making things better, hopefully.

Tim is working on getting the lighting and other things set up for the corals. Shouldn't be too much longer.

I talked with him months ago when he set up. No treating fish ..... I suggested he should, he said didn't need .... hummm, I think he is changing now, too bad he sent many sick fish home to folks and killed many.

discussed lighting, asked him if he thought he could keep coral under those ...... he said yup. I didn't debate, just rolled my eyes because I know better.

I haven't been back since. I'll drive the distance to the ones who know what they are doing. He is nice, but nice only counts for some things in life.

I do like Tim but I definitely agree, he needs by far more light, 12 leds 3 feet above the corals without optics is nowhere near what they need.
