A friend of mine gave me a hot pink yuma that is totally bleached out from no light. I guess he fragged it and left it in his sump to attach and forgot about it. Now it is in my tank and I was wondering if it will recover? I have it under an overhang to acclimate it to light again.

What do you guys think i should do to make sure it stays alive?

I've been wondering this also. I see bleached out mushrooms for sale sometimes and I would buy them anyway if there is a chance of recovery. I know mushrooms are hardy, but will they get their old colors back over time?

I've got a rainbow yuma that was doing great for 2 months then just started bleaching. I moved it to less light and its still completely white 2 months later. I've moved it, tried feeding, different flow. Wish i could help you out, but i think once yumas go white they die.

Bleaching isn't so bad. I'm happy if a new Yuma bleaches instead of melts. Feed it. Keep it in moderate or light water flow. Do not put it in a place with intense illumination, use partial shade, full shade or the farthest edge from the source of light. Do not place it in the dark. Yumas do not do well with bright light untill fully acclimated. Do water changes to lessen nitrates and replace trace elements. Leave it be.

i had a friend that gave me two bleached yumas and i thought they were goners. never had good luck with bleached yumas and they would just melt. i switched to tropic marine pro salt recently and i got to say within a week the bleached yumas got most of their color back. i also hear that redsea pro is also a great salt to try with yumas but haven't tried it myself.
