If it's been empty for a year you have nothing at all to worry about, just give it a good rinse with plain old water.

Best thing you can use is Muriatic acid. Much stronger than Vinegar. Go to Lowes or Home Depot. Don't get the "green or safe brand" garbage. Get the real thing, usually in Paint section. Cheap too. dilute 3 or 4 parts water to 1 part acid. Cleans off anything in the tank especially heavy calcium and Coralline. Safe for glass and acrylic tanks let it soak a day or two and rinse with water. Will also kill off any diseases left in the system at teardown.
