Bleaching Yuma - Successful Recovery

try moving it to the bottom of the tank. Mine seem to do a lot better the further away from the light they are.

I just got the Yuma and I think it's still acclimating to the new lighting - from 250w MH to 4 x 54w T5s. It was expelling some zooxanthellae on the second day and showed some mild bleaching. It seems to prefer the low flow, medium light area of the tank so I placed it the the middle where lighting is good and flow is mild. So far, it's looking better and brighter and slowly getting back the original colors. Hopefully it's back to normal in a couple of weeks.

If your tank is really shallow and you are acclimating to a brighter light use a grating to block some light. If you are acclimating to a less bright light I would place the yuma higher in the tank.

i have recovered a bleached yuma... though it still had a pink skirt... its now completely hot pink :) i did high light, med flow, some people think otherwise

Please post pics. :D

Did you start with high light from the start? How long did it take for the Yuma to fully recover?

well, it turns more and more pink daily. i have had it for three months i think now. no recent shots, but i will try to dig up an early shot

found a decent picture, you can see that the whole center is completely white. that white is now PINK
