Hello, I have a mainly SPS dominated DT. These two in particular are slowly loosing color while the others are not. I have had them for over a year. They are mid way in the tank and have been there since they were light acclimated when purchased. Lighting is 6X54 tek5 with active cooling, the bulbs are changed every year in January so the bulbs are 9 months old. I had a major algae outbreak this spring, I dealt with it by using phosban, slowly adjusted lights to run 8.5hrs instead of 10 and adding a refugium with Cheato. I have never figured out what caused the outbreak - I never detected nitrites, nitrates, silica or phosphate. The algae (maidens hair) is still in the DT however its not expanding, hopefully in time it will go away (i know wishful thinking).
The DT is 75G. Temp 79, SG 1.025, pH 7.9-8.2, Mag 1350, Calc 400, dKh 8, non detectable ammonia, nitrites, nitrates, silica or phosphate.
So my question is what is going on with these two corals? Why are they turning white? Is it possible they are not getting enough light or could it be something else?? The first pictured (Miami Orchard) seems to have some algae attached to it. the second pictured is a Pink Mili that use to be more "red".
thanks
