Blender and the mushroom

I have seen it posted many times on RC but has anyone tried it? I mean really tried it. I am going too tomorrow. Now I will have to modify the idea a bit because if I use my the blender again I will be single. I have a mincer/hand chopper that my wife does not use which will do the same thing. I am going to just dump the chopped mushroom on the sand bed. See what happens

i've been curious about the blender trick, too ... but at the rate my shrooms are reproducing, i'm not sure i want to encourage them any more ...

I dont know about a blender simply because at that fine of pieces I would think they would be very prone to brown jelly infections since you cant have a ton of flow on mushroom goo without it getting anywhere. I have tried cutting them up into blong as I unches of tiny pieces though like what will happen with the mincer and as long as I dont lose the pieces they seem to come back just fine.

please keep us updated as i only have 2 shrooms and id like to cut up the one and get it to grow into multiple...my ? is how long does it take for em to start looking like normal mushrooms again

It will probably work if you don't lose the pieces. The only problem is it takes a longer time for the to grow back. I have had tiny little mush rooms show up in my tank a lot after cutting some up.

I cut them in four or five pieces because they are easier to keep track of and don't take as long to get a finished product.

I'd say do it and try to keep track of how many you get from it. It's just a fun experiment.

If this works, the reef club needs to invest in a community "magic bullet" (also makes great margaritas!).

I figure if I chop it up into 15 - 20 pieces, I would like to see the survival rate and how long it takes for them to grow to a decent size.

What color is this mushroom? Lets get some before and after pictures. I would say we could do it at the meeting, but you would have to tell everyone to bring safety glasses.

That would be cool but a mushroom in a bag will shrink and roll on itself, which will make it hard to chop up.

reefkeeperz on saltwaterfish.co m he has did it and has videos on there. he has so many frag videos its not funny.. he can frag almost anything.. i think thats his screen name .. i havent been on there in awhile.. he is really cool go check him out... search the forumns
