Blennies and algae

Hey. I am pretty new. Someone gave me a 55 gallon tank a few months ago and it has only had fish in it now for about a month. Anyway, the algae seems to be growing pretty well. I'd like to get a little extra info on lawnmower blennies because I have one and what they like to eat (I know they like diatoms which look like brown algae and I have also been giving him/ her some green algae sheets plus he eats random algae all over the tank). I guess just any info on how to make sure he is happy.

Secondly, I'm looking into getting some bigger fish pretty soon. Right now, the only fish in there are 4 damsels (the rest are invertebraes besides the blenny). I've been thinking maybe Lionfish and there is a fish called firefly or something that doesn't really swim. Also considering a ray. Just any info would help.

Thanks.

Between the algae sheets and some regular fish food, the blenny should do well. I wouldn't worry too much more about the diet.

A dwarf lion might work reasonably well in a 55g. They are venomous, so be careful! Also, they will eat shrimp, crabs, and fish, etc, so you might lose the blenny, depending on the relative size.

I don't know of any rays that will work in a 55g tank. I'm also not sure about the other fish you mention. I haven't heard that name used.

Thanks for the information. I wasn't aware of lionfish being so aggressive, that they are poisonous, or anything but I was thinking dwarf would be the right size. I think I'll keep looking because I don't want anything to eat the blenny. I hadn't looked up lionfish yet at the time.. hmm. we'll see..
