blennies vs clams

Extremely bad idea, usually. Most true blennies are horrible clam nippers. Bi-Colors seem to be the worst.

I have a reef with a clam, with a tailspot blenny---not a bit of trouble. Embers and black sailfins and lawnmowers are to watch in this regard.

I got a clam from a friend because his bicolor blenny was picking at the mantle... it was easier to remove the clam than the blenny.... lucky for me!

I have a tailspot blennie and a starry blennie, no problems, I have a crocea, maxima, gigas and a derasa. I saw the spot blennie nip once to the derasa but it was a just one incident but the clam didn't even close.

:( Wow, I'm really gonna be bummed if my ember
picks at my new derasa.

I thought I had researched the "reef friendly" aspect of
this fish:mad:

I hope he is the exception, not the rule.

wow, nice zoo colony.
I have a lawnmower and just recently got a crocea. I had looked into the light they need and their habbits and the type of little snail beasties to watch out for... never heard about blennies and clams being trouble. Just goes to show ya... you can research it quite well and still make an oversight. My blennie hasn't touched my crocea... yet. looks good and 3wks in. fingers crossed.
