Blenny Tang compatability

I have a 90 gallon that has a flametail blenny. Will this blenny be compatable with a tomini tang? I know that tangs have issues with some blennies

I'm not sure the question can be answered ... it almost depends on the individual tang, and how she feels in that moment.

I have a kole and a starry blenny in a 65. For many months, the kole would give chase to the blenny as soon as she saw him, and the blenny became both extremely thin and extremely fast. Then, I moved the tank across the room, and re-decorated it.

The blenny is now free to swim where he wants, and eat when he wants.

I also have a midas blenny, but that one's an open-water planktivore, and the tang ignores him.

This can be a hit or miss case. I have experienced the Tomini and Kole going after my starry and Lawnmower Blennies, but had most of the damage done by the Kole. With the Tomini, I begin to put 3 pieces of Nori on 3 different clips around the tank and I saw the aggression go way down. Also the Tomini had 2 other tangs in with it and it was the smaller and weaker of the bunch. So he was worried about getting picked on also.

Does the blenny being established and territorial in the tank help? The last thing I want is for any of my fish to be picked on.

It's hard to say. Now I have seen a case where the Blenny was around 4 inches and the tang was around 2-2.5 and the Blenny held it's ground and put a whipping on the tang.

I would try it, but be prepared to take it back out. I think if you had a Starry or a Lawnmower you would be ok. They are more aggressive than other Blennies, IME.

i have 4 tangs (powder blue, hippo, yellow, & tomini) in my 220g along with a starry & midas blenny... the only issue i have is with the tomini tang. he is a butthead to my 4 gobies and the 2 blennies :-/ he doesn't hurt them, and they have been together for months. he chases them all on a regular basis. he is like an old man shouting "get off my lawn!!!" :) lol
