Blenny's Tank Build (sort of)

I decided to this because I'm getting jealous of everyone having their own tank build, so I'm getting in on the fun.

This is going to be the third set up I build. The reason I took down the previous set up is because I did not have the adequate equipment to keep a tank of this size (75 gallon + ~30 gallon sump).

I'm currently stocking up on equipment and planning on how everything will be designed. This is the tank:

The sump was originally designed to hold equipment in this order:

Skimmer--->Refugium---->Return section

But due to my miscalculations the skimmer section is WAY too crammed. This is why the overflow falls into the bubble trap.

The sump

And of course the 692 watts Coralife fixture [2 x 250 MH 10,000K and 2 x 96 PC actinic].

The fixture is ~3.5 inches from the water. The fixture I was using before was a PC (odyssea!) that was a total of 260 watt and this without fan cooling would sometimes go up to 82 and 78 low with the fan blowing across the water.

Having said that, I know with this fixture the temp will skyrocket!

That's why I'm planning on buying a canopy with an open top and resting the light fixture there at about 12 inches from the water.

Comments and suggestions :D

Yea I'm not starting it up until I get the RO/DI unit. The reason I tore down the last setup is because I got tired of driving back and forth to the LFS with buckets!

Here are the fish in their home AGAIN. I have some live rock which I'm bleaching right now. Ill post pics once they're in :D .

sigh.....Im going to have to buy a chiller. The MH heat the water A LOT and its just a pain having to put fans at full blast to maintain the temperature at 80

Use the fans on the sump, you will not see them, you will hear them less, and the air closer to the ground is cooler. It gets up to 90 degrees F in my house and a fan is enough to cool it to 82F.

Wonderful insight anemonebuff, Im going to give that a try. What in your opinion is the maximum allowable temperature? Obviously from what you tell me 82F is acceptable?

Haha thanks for showing interest!:D

Here are some pics of the tank..... The water is really cloudy, a bacterial bloom, right? Some of the rocks I put in still smelled a little bad.

This is the only coral I have so far...I don't want to add anymore until the water clears out.

I bought a 32 liter box and drilled it. I'm planning on using this as a refugium. I'll have a pump throwing water to the container and the water will return to the sump by gravity.
