bloating again and again

I had a customer bring me his male kuda 3 times to get the air out of his pouch and we found out the tank was way too warm. He got the temp down but he just kept bloating. Now the horse is in my care and I'm wondering what more I can do to stop it from happening again. I have heard of a pouch flush with some sort of meds but don't know any more than that. Can anyone help?

The med you're looking for is called Diamox. There is a great thread about it here somewhere, do a search if you can, or search ReefCentral using Google. At the risk of being accurate, there is a lot of information regarding how to treat recurring Pouch Emphysema on seahorse.org, too.

I had a similar problem with my male barbouri and I think the problem was I was not assertive enough and didn't get all the air out when I was evacuating his pouch, so he kept bloating. Once I got a bit more assertive, I got all the air out, and he has never had the problem again.

Just a thought.....
