blocking holesinadualoverflow?

I have a 150 dual overflow with a n overflow box in each corner of the tank and holes drilled in the bottom. I would rather have a ghost overflow box on the back of the tank and plumb a bean animal system. Has anyone ever removed the overflow boxes and plugged the 4 holes to do something like this? I'm thinking glass with silicone over the holes. Would this make sense? Or am I crazy?

You can certainly silicone the same thickness glass over but I think its smarter to simply use pvc caps/plugs and leave the bulkheads,etc... all in place.. Or use those holes for your return piping..

So I would just put bulkheads in place with PVC caps glued under the tank? That makes sense, I would just need a small length of PVC to put the cap on. Do they make something to block the bulkhead from inside the tank?

You can just get threaded bulkheads and threaded plugs (and proper non-hardening thread sealant) and just screw the plugs in and call it done..
Unscrew as/when needed and no damage done..

I went the route of removing everything end covering them up with glass.

Just have to make sure you really clean the glass up before sealing.

Water tested and worked great.

I didn't trust anything pre-existing on the tank when I bought it used.

I did the same thing when I set up my 120 gallon tank, covered the holes with glass siliconed in place. Be sure to get silicone all the way around the holes on the glass, it will not give you a good seal with new silicone on the old silicone.
