Blonde Naso not eating

I have a 4-5 in Blonde Naso which I've had for about 3 weeks. Suddenly over the past 3 days it hasn't been eating. Before, it would love Nori and flake, but now it doesn't go near the Nori and the flake food floats right past him with no reaction. It's getting pretty thin and I'm getting concerned. I bought a small bottle of PraziPro, but haven't used because of all the mixed stories I've read about it. My tank is basically FOWLR, but has a RBTA and one or two LPS. Any idea what I can try to save the fish?

It takes longer than 3 days for a fish to get noticeably thinner. If you won't use PP (I would) and you obviously don't use a QT/HT; that doesn't leave many (any) options.

Do you think PP is safe to use? I've read that folks have used it be bad effects on other fish. I was thinking of using half the recommended dosage. Have you used it?

What bad effects are you worried about?

I've used it for a long time with no negative effects. Using it at half dose may be a waste of meds.

I've read that it didn't help and that not only did the ill fish die, but so did others.
Do you remember where you read this?
Whoever had this happen made an error of some sort. PP will kill tubeworms and I've heard a few anecdotal reports that some inverts were killed. I've never heard of it hurting fish. It's the safest med I know of. Countless folks on this forum use PP on every new fish in their QT, I have for years. You should set up a QT/HT, though.

BTW, I'm not sure the tang's problem is an internal worm; just my best guess. If the fish has some time; I'd post this in the disease section of the forum. PP is a common topic there and I've never heard of anyone losing fish to PP.

The PraziPro I bought is a light pink in color and kind of thick. Is that the way it's supposed to be?

yes, that is what it looks like..I have used 100s of timnes and never had any issues...I mix mine with rodi water before adding to tank...need to get a qt to avoid this...dosing into a dt is tough as the meds are absorbed by the lr and ls...good luck and let us know who it works...you will have to repeat dosage in a day or so as per directions...

I'm assuming the Naso died. I can't find it anywhere in the tank.

I have a filter sock on the overflow pipe into my sump. This morning I noticed alot of foam in the sock, almost like skimmer foam. Was I supposed to remove the sock before added the PraziPro?

A dead fish produce a lot of organics as it de-composing. I'd really try to find this fish, small fish dying are no big deal, assuming the system is big enough. A dead adult naso could cause problems. I'd test ammonia.
