Blonde Naso... Still not eating...

Vapour1ze

I'm an Addict.
Only fish in my system not eating... All other fish eating... The Naso has been in for about 2 weeks. Still a chubby bunny and looking healthy. He's just so afraid to go up to the Nori clip with other fish. Doesn't even look at Mysis, and doesn't look at flake/pellet. Tried Garlic. Nothing.

Any ideas? Is he a ticking time bomb?

add a 2nd or even 3rd nori clip to spead out the food. Naso may be less intimidated if less fish are at each clip.

what other fish are in the system?

Nasos are notorious for starving themselves to death. I lost two of them early on because of this, tried everything from nori attached to rock and live foods but they wouldn't eat. Pretty common with that breed.

From what I read, it has to do with them not adapting from going to an ocean to a box. Good luck with him. They are my favorite fish!

Thanks, not looking good. He's still fat. But so stupid... Tried everything. I'll try live when I can.

Other fish are yellow tang, queen angel, bartlett anthias, yellow wrasse, orangeback wrasse, pyle's wrasse, 2 clowns, hawk, cleaner wrasse, and bluethroat pair.

My Naso took over a month before I saw him eat. Wouldn't take nori, frozen or pellets. Nls pellets were the first thing I saw him eat. Then slowly started eating other foods. Now he eats every thing I offer and is a pig!

My naso will only eat seaweed. He will eat one or two mysis when I feed the tank but I put a sheet of seaweed in and he destroys it. Try that

Mine wouldn't eat off the clip at first. For the first couple of weeks I had to crumble the nori sheets into little pieces and let the powerheads blow it around and he would eat it. Eventually he did start eating off the clip but won't eat anything but seaweed.

I am putting sheets of Nori in.... He won't go near it. However the other night I saw some chunks blow off and I think he grabbed some... "Fingers crossed"

Same problem, lost 3 nasos ghat just wouldn't eat .. first 2 would never started , the third started eating for 2 weeks then stopped.
Gave it one last try with one BIG naso and he bum rushed to eat anything I put in the tank

First time I took a chance on a fish without watching it eat in store. Learning my lesson if this guy passes.

They are tough to get eating. My buddy has gone through 3 of them and he finally gave up. One of my local reefers suggest they should be the first fish and tang in the tank to reduce the stress. Don't know if that works or not.

I had a heck of a time getting mine to eat... He would only eat chaeto for the first three weeks, then finally nori sheets. I tried everything I could think of including live brine shrimp and other types of macro algae.
