blotches or holes in tail fin Wrasse

My huge DD MM Leopard Wrasse went to Wrasse Heaven Saturday. On Friday, I tried to treat it with focus/metro. On Saturday, I decided to start treating all fish focus/metro for 5 days as a precaution.

Sunday, my DD Red Tailed Wrasse has 3 small blotches on body near dorsal fin (not ich). They were gone yesterday. He also had a small pinhole (maybe just a blotch)on his back fin. Today, there are even more!

Leave the fish be, a healthy fish will recover. You seem to be stressing the fish. BTW, I am the guy who posted the Bluestar pic on LA's facebook page.

IMHO, it is important to medicate cetain diseases, parasites, infections, albeit inthis case I'm not sure what it is. Treating food with focus/metro should not stress the fish at all. Not sure why u think I'm stressing it by trying to gather more info and treat if needed. Confused.

mysterybox i would treat as you are , you need to try something and if its in his food that is certainly not going to stress anything .

Looking at your pics of the Leopard wrasse you had an internal worm which won't be affected my metro/focus.

Metronidazole is an effective and safe treatment for several protozoan and anaerobic bacterial diseases of fish (Cryptocaryon, Hexamita, Ichthyophthirius). It does not adversely affect the filter bed and is easily removed with carbon. There is little danger of overdosing. Usual dose is 125 mg/10 gallons.


Focusâ„¢ can deliver any medication internally by binding the medication to its polymer structure. The advantage is that the fish can be medicated without contaminating the entire aquarium with medication.

Thanks! His behavior has been quite normal, and he is eating great! But ya never know, ya know? Yeah, I know, u know.

those were actually areas where there were lack of pigmant. no holes. all healed up today! perfect!
