Hello guys and gals please chime in and let me know if you do, how often and why you blow off your live rock?
I am sure this has been discussed at some point just wanted to get some new feedback with all the carbon dosing going on these days.
Thanks

Once a week w waterchange, i use a turkey baster w a hose attached, then put the output of the hose in my filtersock to collect all the junk, you will be amazed how much comes out of the rocks every wk even.

So you're actually siphoning/vacuuming off the rocks and not just blowing them off? Great idea with the turkey baster. I'm going to steal this idea.

Normal Day to Day, I don't run filter floss, but hours before I start a WC I'll add filter floss, then add a cheap power head filter into tank stuffed with floss. I have another pump with a 3ft hose, I place the pump in the filter area and blow off all the rocks. I'll do this a few times over a couple hours and in between let the filter floss do its thing.

A few hours later the tank will clear up, then I'll change the water.

I put my powerheads on high (keeps everything suspended to get overflowed out) grab a spare powerhead and blow out the rocks before a filter sock and water change. Give it a half hour for the display to clear before doing the change. I started with using a turkey baster, but found it wasn't very effective and after creating an oops frag, I now use the powerhead. Big difference, the turkey baster simply doesn't have the force to really blow out the rocks.
