Blue dot puffer

So I just got a new blue dot puffer and his favorite food are pellets actually. What else should I feed that isn't grocery store bought for keeping his teeth down? If he only reacts to the pellets will he be healthy still? Any suggestions and advice appreciated by its my first puffer

I have a Canthigaster papua that loves nori, frozen mysis, brine, squid, krill, and all the goodies. He also likes Cichlid Flakes, NLS pellets (the small ones), and cichlid sticks. He (along with my bluehead wrasse) wiped out all my hermits and stomatella snails.

I just realized I didn't answer your question about teeth. If you do have a toby, that's usually not a problem. I've had to trim teeth on bigger puffers, but never my toby.

thanks for the responses and yep thats my little puffer! He loooovvveeesss pellets. but I also have frozen mysis, brine shrimp, marine cuisine and squid.

I would skip the brine (it's like popcorn - they love it, but little to no nutritional value), but the rest sounds good. You might also want to try some nori or a Sera stick-on spirulina tab. Mine goes nuts for both.

Good luck with him. I love my little guy.

I just saw my toby eat NLS pellets this morning! Maybe he's been doing that all along, but I've never seen it. Go figure.

Sorry to dig up an old thread but its the only one i could find about these guys and their eating habits, mine is new to the tank 29 biocube and he appears to be nipping at my zoa frag, causing it to stay closed, is this normal or is he extra hungry, I was under the impression they would leave coral alone if they had plenty to eat, any thoughts are appreciated
Thanks
