Blue Fin Goby Tiger Pistol

for over 2 years i've had a Blue Fin goby living with a tiger pistol, since the fish was put in the tank he paired with the shrimp instantly and the 2 lived on the far right side of the tank for the whole time under the same base rock. The goby never ventured much past his burrow the whole time. Last night i was checking on my clowns and nem which are located on the far left side of the tank, and to my surprise, i saw the goby hiding out under the nem. the clowns were just as curious as i was as they were constantly looking down at this intruder...i checked after lights out and he never made his way back to his former home...i'm wondering if the shrimp is dead, did they both decide to relocate, did they "break up"? i'm totally stumped by this one...

I would keep an eye on the den and see if the shrimp pops up. The shrimp may have passed and you could get another for them to pair. The shrimp may just be hiding. My goby/shrimp pair have relocated a couple times and each time it takes a few days for the shrimp to come back out. I think its because he is working on the den under the rock but who knows for sure. Maybe he molted? Good luck sounds interesting lol.
