Blue Hornets

Just looking for a general consensus on their care. There are conflicting reports on their hardiness in aquaria.

I have rastas doing very well in the tank, along with other soft corals and some acans, but I would like to add more of a zoa variety.

Can someone please share some of their own experience with the blue hornets?

I bought 2 red and 2 blue hornets about 4 months ago. When they arrived, I couldn't even see the polyps. I called the vendor and he said they were starter polyps. There was nothing more than a barely visible smudge on both frags(I was ****ed). Today I have 18 polyps each. It took about two weeks before I could even identify between them.
I'm still trying to figure out how the vendor was able to frag just a tiny smudge.
Anyway, I kept them with medium flow and light and fed every other day.

Currently I have them both at the bottom of the tank(as that's where I want them) and they don't seem to be growing as fast. I haven't feed them in a while so I will start that.

I have around 30 different zoa and play. I would say that they are no different than most others. Just find a spot that you like and feed them. I have had one frag of Maroon and green mouth zoas melt. Can't say why it happened when all others seemed to be doing well.

If you don't see any changes for the better in a couple weeks, move them to a different spot.

Hi Sam,

What are you feeding your zoas?

Hey Ed!
I use a squirt of chalice powder on the frags once a week with the pumps off for 20 min. I feed the tank a half cube of calcaneez everyday when I feed the fish mysis. When they are new frags I'll feed them the powder twice a week.

That pink lemonade one I got from you is a pain though. I'm down to one polyp and am afraid to move it.

I have hundreds and hundreds that are almost a nuisance. They grow fast double in size every few months. I keep NSW parameters and a clean reef and light with 14K Phoenix Metal Halides.

Good to know, I might have to get another frag off you if I can't bring this one around. All others I got from you are thriving.

Blue Hornets were sold out :(

I ended up getting purple hornets instead! Got a frag with 6 tiny heads. Hoping to see them grow and multiply!

I ordered six different frags and the blue hornets were the first to open and doing great on the bottom. They say the Polyps getting bigger in low light, quarter size.
