Blue Jaw Trigger

LA says they require a 125g. IMO and IME, a 125g would be fine for one, but not a pair long term. I have my pair in a 225g, and they use all 6 feet of that, and all of the height of the tank as well. You may be alright with a pair in a 180g, but if I could do it all over again, I'd get an 8ft 240g.

I ordered it from saltwaterfish. They had an ORA neon and yellow hobby as a gift with any order above 150.

I was going to try Petco because everyone says they have the same supplier as LiveAquaria. They had really reasonable prices. A 7" male was $80 and a 3" make was $40, too bad they were out of stock. They also had the purple tang for $95.

Everyone I've asked says the Blue Jaw Trigger is pretty reef safe except that it may eat smaller shrimp and snails. I was wondering if anyone had one

had one a few yrs back in a 125. it wreaked havoc not too long after putting it in. it ate chromis, bit the head off a yellow watchman and bit the arse off a large bangaii.. caution needed.

Thankfully my other fish may keep it from doing. My foxface and yellow tang can defend themselves if needed. My firefish is too quick to catch but my mandarin could get victimized. Get this fish tomorrow. Excited. Might have issues catching it if it does act up.

I use to know a pair of Clarkii that would harass it. It started attacking the clowns after a week. Then the clowns calmed down. I had never seen behavior like this from a goby against another species. Got rid of the clown a couple weeks later.

the firefish may never come out if its threatened.

True. I had two starve in my tank before my upgrade. My triggers didn't even go after the firefish, and they didn't come out (I'm guessing because of the multitude of larger fish in my tank).

Just be proactive. Your firefish will either hide, or jump out of the tank. Take Paul B's (on this forum) advice, and go ahead and catch that firefish, and throw it on the floor ahead of time. LOL. Jk...

Put the trigger in my 40 gallon quarantine with a foxface. Will post pictures tomorrow if they decide to venture out I do have some zoas and snails in the quarantine tank, hope the foxface and trigger don't get an appetite for them.

Can't seem to find the trigger. Foxface has come out and seems to be eating. Trigger no where to be seen. Hope it's not lodged between the rocks.

Fed the foxface glaceria(if I spelled it correctly) and I put live brine and feeder shrimp into the tank for the blue jaw. Hasn't touched any of them yet.

I'm more surprised it manages to hide in a 40 gallon breeder. I use it as a frag tank but I use it for quarantine as well. Try not to use medication unless it is necessary.

Still refuses to come out. I moved the foxface to my display tank so that it will come out and have a regular feeding regiment
