What do you guys think about a blue jaw trigger in a reef tank? They are zooplankton eaters and have a maximum size of 8". Do you guys think it would nip at my corals/clams/fish? Anyone have any experience? TIA.

i have a blue throat in my reef. He hasn't been a problem. Pretty mellow fellow, just eats like a pig. I've read that most problem occur when there are a pair of them in a tank. Other than that, mine's grew from 3" to a 4" in the year I've had him. The only issue is they like to swim fast and tend to break those pretty stick.

What size tank would work for one of these? I'm going to upgrade soon and I thought all triggers were out of the question for a reef.

I know there are others but these are the triggers Ive seen in a reef do well

blue jaws
niger trigger ( i feel this fish is questionable) fish are like people some will some wont

cross hatch

Thanks for all the info.! I just added him to the tank. He is kind of a wimp; the only other fish in the tank are chromis and he locked himself between the rocks in a cave. I'll post a picture of him when he comes out.

Yeah he's a good 5". I wouldn't have made John hold him but I was already attached to that one, he was so funny when I would feed him and he has a TON of personality. He would spit water at me right before I fed him and he would run away from the mysis in terror. :)

thats cool ,I once had a clown trigger that did the same thing ,I actually trained him to spit all the time ........
