blue leg hermit crabs murdered?

sup ya i have about 20 blue leg hermit crabs in my 55 gal tank. yesterday i seen one dead and out of his shell. i didnt really think to much of it but today after i got home from work i seen about 6-8 empty shells laying on my sand bed. so now im kinda worried abotu whats going on. i have 1 four stripe damsel, 1 yellow tail damsel, 2 ture perc clowns, 1 emerald crab, 1 lta anemone, 2 head of frogspawn, and a "?hammer coral?". there are a few blue legs that are kinda bigger then the rest. most of the blue legs are about 1/2" - 1" and the bigger ones are about 1" - 1 1/2".could my bigger blue legs be killing the smaller ones? what should i do.

whats your params?
mine often move to different shells. if there is not enough food i guess they could be eating each other. how long have you had them do you have any bigger shells for them to move to when they get bigger?

If they are the tiny cheap blue leg hermits from Florida their survivability can be pretty dismal. In my experience you are better off steering clear of them in future and going with the mexican red leg hermit - they seem to do way better.

circusink22 - im at work rite now so i cant tell u the params are.
i had 10 of them for 2-3 months and the other 10 for a few weeks. i dont think they are starving im pretty sure theres enough food for them. i have a lot of algae in the tank too. i also have some bigger shells for them to switch to.



Ooulophilia - yes they are the cheap hermit crabs. they are a buck each.

hmm like Ooulophilia said the blue legs have a unpredictable survival rate i have 5 that ive had a little over a year that are about an inch i had 5 die a friend of mine keeps the red legs he also agrees that they are betterand tend to live longer.
if you params are not in check that could be killing them too.

What should my pramas be at? I'm pretty sure there ok. I just tested it last week when ii got my nem. Everything was good when I check it. Ill post the numbers when I get home and u guys can tell me what ya think.
