Blue legged Yellow Boxer (Coral Banded?) Shrimp

Marley & Me
Ok so I didn't know when I got my 'coral banded shrimp' that he was different. Well, I didn't know there WERE different kinds. (I thought the golden ones were just the same as the regular, that just happened to be more colored up or something) I noticed someone mention "the blue ones won't get as big".

Mine is very gold with blue legs. First I thought it was just a golden one...but it has blue legs. So it's a Blue legged Yellow Boxer Shrimp.

Anyone have info on them, how they are different from regular white and red ones and the blue, white and red ones? Same size as the blues? Are they actually "Coral Banded Shrimp" at all? Is he suppossed to be more aggressive? (because he is very aggresive, kills all other shrimps and attempts to catch my fish, so far no luck but maybe he will catch the damsel that I want to return to the store for me!)

Life span? Any info would be great. I like him because he is beautiful and has gotten very bold, walking the whole tank...but I don't like him because I can't catch him and because of his aggression. I don't mind him having his own reef tank right now with 1 other fish, but eventually I would like to move tanks and I don't want him...so maybe I will wait until he dies of old age, if I knew when that was :)

Yellow Banded Coral Shrimp. They will not all look exactly the same, some colors will be a little more defined then other, you just got lucky with this guy. Looks great!

Bruno - it took him about 6 months or so. Also there is only one fish in there and crabs and snails so I think he feels confident the whole tank is his (it's only 10 gallons)

Bongarone - Thanks! Got him from Your Reef here in Roseville. Think people were avoiding him because of the CBS aggression reputation.

Kennedy and Buzz - Am I misunderstanding about the type he is? When I look it up it seems that there are all these types of Coral Banded - Regular, Zanzibar, Yellow, Blue, and Blue Legged Yellow. So I am thinking yellow and blue legged yellow must be closely related but still different....

Anyways I think I have figured out they don't get as big as the normal red/white ones which is good because it means he is already a pretty good aged adult. I am not going to try to catch him anymore, he is too smart. So I will just keep him until I switch tanks or until he dies. He is a cool guy and I do like him, just wish I could have other shrimp but oh well

Wow!!! 6 months??? Holy crap. I just added this little guy to my 60g few days ago and said "see ya later' thinking "later" meant a couple of weeks. I have a pair of ocellaris, a firefish, gramma and copper-banded butterfly and there is absolutely no aggression in the tank. He's exactly like your guy, except he's blue where yours is yellow. I think our shrimp will only get to a max of 1 1/2 to 2 inches based on all of my research. I've been looking for any sign of his antennae but I can't find anything. Oh well. Guess I won't be seeing him for quite a while.

ohhh he is so pretty! When I mean 6 months I mean for me to see him walking around in the day. I could always "see" him, a claw here, antennae there. It took him longer to get more bold though. They are not like cleaners where they are always out and about (except at night).

6 months , really? He must had been adult out of bad tank, mine took less than 6 hours, had him eating out my hand. He just died well she just died. Looking to get another, maybe a yellow one.
