blue linckia starfish

Hello i have some questions about blue stars
I will start with some tank info
210g 55g sump 10g refug about 1 year old setup
200lbs lr
2 clowns
firefish
4 green chromis
diamond goby
bi color
coral beauty
valentini puffer
blue linckia starfish
pj cardinal
bej cardinal
2 fire shrimp
some blue and red leg crabs
marg/astraea/turbo snails

Wife brought home a blue star this weekend, i have no experience with this... so i drip acclimated for 2 hours then put it on the live rock...it was stiff?? but then it formed down onto the rock after a little while. over night it moved down between two rocks kind of slumped together.. and has not moved much in the last 24 hours.
Is it ok should i move it i have no idea what to do
All other fish are fine and the couple corals i do have are doing great.

Sounds normal to me. I find mine in all sorts of contorted positions. If it hasn't moved after a day you can move it and see. Did you keep it submerged after acclimation? I don't think exposure to air is good for them. They are not great survivors in our tanks.

I took it out for a second to add it to my tank.. i did not want to add the stores water to mine.. I hope its ok its very cool but i read they can be hard to keep alive.

My lincka didn't move for 2 weeks when I first introduce him to the tank. then suddenly he want to come out a bit.

avoiding air is advised due to bacterial infections, much like the 3 hour drip acclimation. you can elliminate a store's water by increasing the volume of acclimation water (drip time) long enough that only your water is what is remaining....

The blue linkia is one of the harder linkias because they MUST have very stable parameters, especially with ph and temp. In my experience, the temp and ph (often alk related shifts should be considered) are the two biggees when it comes to stars....shifts in these areas have always proven my downfall. I kept my longest star for over 7 years before having to break down the tank, and kept a fromia sp for 5 of those 7 as well....

if the tank is well matured, this star may have found a real nice pocket of food.....i'd let it be until you see it is in trouble....they are kind of like clams....just leave em be unless you are sure they need to be addressed.

Thanks for the info my apex keeps my tanks temp and sal pretty sable now my ph does moves from 7.9 to 8.1 every day not sure if thats too much?? Aslo my ph will slowly rise all week long till the weekend then it will drop a little??? im thinking do to more people home using more o2
