I think I killed my linka starfish! Do I have to hand feed this guy I have had for 2 months and all of a sudden it was stuck in the rocks and just keeps looking weaker and weaker???? I feed flake in the morning, feed a mix of shrimp/mysis/kkrul mixture once a week in the pm as well as mysis every night. Water parameters are stable lots of live rock The only thing different is I added live sand for the goby could I have suffocated it???? Brittle star and all fish and anenome are fine. Look forward to info before its to late.

i dont think you hand feed these, they mainly eat micro organisms/algaes on rock surfaces. what size of tank is it in its prbably starving from lack of food.also adding the sand may have suffocated him how much sand did you add and did it cloud up the water alot.

Thanks Tayler for responding It's toooo late. I do think I suffocated him I only added 2.5 lbs for a goby. this is a 85 gal tank. Plenty to eat. but won't try another one for awhile.

Thanks again

My blue linckia is very strange. Ive had him for 2 years, and he rarely moves. Maybe an inch or 2 a day, and only at night. There have been a few times I thought he was dead but the next morning he had moved an inch. I dont even know how it feeds.

I had a blue linkia in my 46gallon for about 2 years when all of a sudden he started to deterate. For the life of me i couldnt figure out what was wronge with him, however i did see a couple of very small snail on his underside before he died. I didnt realize what was happening to him until i read an articel about clams on this forum. turns out that there where predetory snails feeding on the fluids of the starfish.

I believe that they are called Pyramid snails, you may want to check it out.
