Just thought I'd share a few pics of my blue Mandarin fish. I've had him for several years and he was wild caught. I initially got him eating OvaNumar, then frozen mysis, then he decided he liked flake too.
My mixed reef 180g is going on 9 years old. I have tons of amphipods and copipods. Although I wasn't worried about him starving, I know that Mandarin fish can be very finicky eaters. Over the years, he's actually seemed to prefer PrimeReef flakes, but still picks at rocks too. He likes to go to town on the flake buffet. Odd behaviour for Mandarins, so I guess I got lucky. He's about 4" long now with a belly as big as a grape.
I also have a female green target Mandarin in my 10g reef. She was about half an inch long when I got her as a minnow. Now she's about 2" long and fat like a tootsie roll. I've had her for about 3 years.
