I just got a blue reef chromis yesterday. His colors are magnificent but he is hiding, as expected from a new arrival. My real question is he isn't eating yet. He puts the new life spectrum in his mouth then spits it out. only have a fancy ocellaris clown
Should I be concerned or just wait a few more days?

real blue chromis? black axle chromis? green chromis??

Is it turquoise blue or really deep blue? Size??

I would be trying frozen cyclops and mysis or brine.

It is possible that it does not know that it is food as many fish we get have never eaten a pellet or flake. They taste like food, but do not feel like food, so they spit it out. I would try frozen brine or Mysis and see if he takes it, and eventually he will likely move over to the prepared food.

Not sure if it helps you any but we got a snowflake clown from our LFS that was eating krill and did so the first day in qt but after that would do the same as yours take it in then spit it out. After about 3-4 days of not eating and getting skinny, I tried mysis as well and no go, I broke down and bought some flake food. Go figure he loved it and thats all he'd eat so id throw a pinch in at every feeding but slowly after a week or so he started slowly eating frozen again. You might just have to try a few different foods till you find something he likes and get him eating and then he might slowly switch to something else.

You could try some krill or brine shrimp however brine shrimp are not very nutritious but might get him to start eating. At any rate unless they are enriched they won't work long term more of a treat.

I don't remember mine ever having problems eating. I feed Mysis, Brine Shrimp, Micro Pellets, Choped Clam, and Krill in a rotation. It seems to liike everything but the Krill. It's favorite is Brine, but like some said, it's not good alone. You could just get some and see if it goes for it. At least it's eating something.
