Mine was around 3" in our 4' 120g before he started to get angry. Now we have him in a 6' 125g and he's certainly happier. We have an 8' 220g that's waiting to be setup (we're buying a new house and its going in there)
I agree, about 3-4". You need to keep an eye out for aggression and stress. They can stress easily and become ill. It's not just aggression that indicates a tank is too small.
I agree I had 4” in my 100g which is the same dimensions as 120g and as soon as he got that big he got very aggressive and killed two of my fish. I choose not to move him to my new 6’ tank in fear they once he felt cramped in the new tank the same thing would happen
Had a blue regal tang in my 120 about 8 years, actually had that fish longer than I had the 120, about 7 inches, never bothered other fish. But every fish is different.
