Blue shrimp (Heteropeneus longimanus)

I just picked up one of these very shrimpy shrimp (as in it looks like one you might actually eat) today. I can't find much information on it when I Google the genus and species...

...any one have one? Apparently they eat bryospsis, which I don't have problems with, but I have enough macro to feed him indefinately and can offer other foods as well...

I had a similar species that I later found out was more temperate than tropical. Did you get any info on where it originated from?

EDIT: I found a couple references mentioning it from the Java Sea/Singapore

Yes, that's the same info. I got on it...and I found a bit suggesting it will indeed eat bryopsis...but that's about it...

At any rate...I just released him into my tank...so I suppose we'll see how he does...

Shrimp appears to be doing fine today. It's very cool. It has fairly long eyestalks and 'claps' its eyes together...lol...THAT takes a little getting used to seeing...

My Blue Shrimp is doing well from what I can tell...so I hope it stays that way. I finally uploaded the one good picture I found on a European site; It is NOT one I took...although if I had a decent digital I might be able to do so...;)

 I have no idea...it's not remotely blue...and mine looks exactly like the picture, except that mine is a male I think and the photo might be a female (can't tell for certain from the photo).

Maybe they turn blue during certain times of the year or something?;)
