Blue Speckled Shrooms

Dropped by my LFS the other day.. (its actually a pretty good reef store, in many respects)...

Anyway... they have a $15 per frag tank setup.. which I ALWAYS have to check out..

As usual.. most of the stock was crap that I wouldnt ever want... standard brown... crappy-looking coral ...

But something caught my eye.. There was this little rock with a few shrooms on it... They were nearly translucent.. but with pretty blue specks...

I thought.. 'oh ****... I have nothing blue in my tank... maybe I'll drop a few bucks... hmmm...."

Then.. as I looked on... a hairy brown crab popped out and proceeded to snip chunks of flesh out of the smallest blue shroom before my eyes...

That was it for me... the rescue was on...


So now I have a rock of Blue-speckled shrooms in my tank...

I love 'em!

FWIW though, they might not look like that when they decide to expand. Sometimes colors can get distorted.

Update: Moved them a little bit higher but off to the side out of the direct beam of my 8w LED.. they seem happier than before:

Great shrooms! How do they look under actinics?

They dont do much under the blues... of course, I only have the blues that came with the Evolve 8.. which isnt much...

I have an OCreef Par38 on the way which is going to replace my current lights... maybe they will look better under that.. :dance:

I have some that look just like these, your blue stands out a lot better. They grow like crazy !
