Blue sponge for wavebox

Do I have to run the sponge in a wavebox? I can't remember if it makes the pump fit better or just quites it down, this will be for my prop tank on the garage so I'm not concerned about the noise.

Chris the blue sponge help reduce the vibration. I forgot the send the two i was talking about. If you want the blue sponge, i can send them with Tim's stuff. Let me know...
