Blue Spotted Hawaiian Sharpnosed puffer

What would I have to do to keep one of these little guys? Interested in them and want to know some more information like food, will they chew through my snail population, etc.

I have kept two other toby puffers, and they are all pretty much the same. While I have never caught one in the act, I have plenty of hermit shells with holes in them. I don't keep snails with them, but I would guess larger turbos would be safe due to thick shells. I do know that mine love stomellas, though. I also keep the guy I have now with 3 starfish and an urchin and he leaves them alone.

As for feeding, they will eat anything. Mine eats squid, silversides, scallops, shore shrimp, mysis, and rod's food.

All smaller snails will be taken out. Porcelain crabs and emerald crabs will likely be eaten also. Finally, may nip other Fish's fins. Great fish though. Awesome personality and behavior. And a really cool swimming style.

I have also had them nip at clams, zoas, and fleshy brain corals.

I had a little toby, he enjoyed munching on turbos, seemed to leave my emerald and other hermits alone. He never cared much for clams on a half shell though. I miss him but I enjoy having shrimp now.

Beautiful fish! I am having a really hard time deciding! Don't want any citizen of my aquarium nipping at anything or munching my snails. But, puffers are so cool and full of personality lol.

and i should add I've grown quite fond of my cleaner shrimp lol. Beginning to think a little toby isn't a good idea.

My cleaner shrimp is hanging in there, just has somewhat short antennae.

i had one for a while and i still dont know what caused him to die. i kept him well fed and even had him hand fed trained. loved his personality. If i didnt have a Lunar wrasse or plans for a lion id get another. he never messed with any of my crabs fyi

Do they bother LPS or SPS corals?

Can they handle fairly strong flow that you might find in an SPS
tank?

I have heard about the fin nipping. Anyone keep them with a Marine Betfa (Comet) or Orchid Dottyback?

Any danger to small sleeping fish like firefish, basslets etc?

Any possibility a skunk cleaner shrimp could make it long term with one of these in the right rock scape or are they all eventually doomed? Would they clean out nacissus (sp?) snails that come out mostly at night?
