Blue squamie

How can you guys determine that clams are hibrids from the formation of the shells? The shells can have different growth formation based on the ammount and how strong the flow they get.

im trying to determine what species it is, not whether it's a hybrid or not.

hybrid's are not very common especially now that most clams(available for sale) are cultured.

flow can have some influence on shell growth form, but flow wont change species typical growth traits.

Hey Zoom,
Is not somethign i read but is an observation from alot of different researchers in the hobby.

Here's a slightly different angle. I had to put a protective barrier around the clam until I can get rid of my Heniochus. He seems to like this clam, but doesn't touch my Derasa.

if you want a true ID on the clam you will need a full side shot and a shot of the byssal opening like this.

otherwise we are all just guessing
