Agree, I think that's a good price. However knowing the retail industry with a squamosa of that rare color the price can easily gets doubled and there would still be buyers if they want it bad enough. Must say though, that clam is unnaturally blue for a squamosa... scary. Anyhow, personally I'd never pay more than $60 for a 6" clam because I believe I can always find a better deal later. Patient pays off all the time for me.

Honestly, I'd be hesitate to take on such a large clam. 30 cm converts to about 10-11 inches, at that size they are pretty used to whatever environment they were and it's hard for them to adapt to a new environment. so... good luck.

If you live in Lombok, why do you pay for a clam?
Why dont ya just go and collect whatever you want?
Im not sure how rare are Blue Squamosas in these waters, but in Bali you can find a farm that have hundreds of them.

I'm still looking but according to this link i see no restrictions on collecting in Lombok.

Sorry, but i dont know how to dive and i never saw a clam like this size and colors. How deep a clam like this one life in the sea?
And for Bali, i dont think so if i can buy a good specimens because mostly the Corals and Fish for Export purpose.
Btw: What Julio said is true, some times the ranger going patrol on the sea. If you have a bad day and meet them???:eek2:

you should be able to find a Squamosa from 3 meters to 15 meters.
you cant buy from them? they only sell for about $5 on your end, we pay $60 and up but most of that cost is shipping and middlemen.
if there being collected for export then there not protected, there regulated. so you should be able to get a permit and collect them on your own. but if your not collecting them to sell and export you my not even need that.
while were on the topic, how strongly is collection enforced? for years and years the native people of the Indo Pacific have eaten these clams. Do people still go out and collect clams to eat? is it legal to collect them to eat? does the law turn there head when they see a villager collecting clams to eat?
I visited CV.Dinar & Bali Blue, and Yes they wont sell it to me. And they never Export big clams.
Mostly yes, they always find some reason to cought you if they knew you came from city not a locall people.
