If it's the black dots they are normal. BTW it's a beautiful clam from what I can see, can you get a shot when it opens?

Got it at a LFS. I just can't get a good pic of him. He's angled in the tank so I'll have to move him to get a good pic.

It should be opened much more than that! Is it receiving too much water movement where it is placed??

I agree...beautiful clam, but he's definately not opening up enough. Could be predation or chemistry.

Have you checked super carefuly at night for pyramid snails? Any fish like blennies or angels that could pick on him?

How's your chemistry and salinity, and how are you testing?

He's open more now but the pic was right after I moved him.

Salifert test kits. No Pyramid sanils, Blennies, but have a Regal and he doesn't pick at it. When ever a fish casts it's shadow on it it does close a little.

Temp= 77-78
Nitrites= 0
Nitrates= 0
Amonia= 0.10
